The January transfer window remains open, which means there is still time for Chelsea  to add to their squad, despite already making significant outlays.

After successfully hijacking a deal to secure Ukrainian winger Mykhailo Mudryk, Todd Bohely’s Chelsea have now spent just under £400 million since he took over the club.

Despite this, Chelsea sit tenth in the Premier League, so he will be keen to keep recruiting as Graham Potter builds his new project at Stamford Bridge.

During this window, Chelsea have added the aforementioned Mudryk as well as Joao Felix, Benoit Badiashile, Andrey Santos and David Datro Fofana.

However the Blues appear not to be content with that and have been linked with Brighton’s Ecuadorian wonderkid Moises Caicedo and PSV’s Noni Madueke.

With players returning from injury, new players potentially arriving and Joao Felix to return from his three-match ban following a red card against Fulham, how might Chelsea line up by the end of this season?

Formation: 5-2-3/3-4-3

Goalkeeper: Kepa Arrizabalaga

Senegalese international Edouard Mendy is injured with a fractured finger, but even before his injury Potter seemed to favour Kepa.

He is the most expensive goalkeeper in history, but has been known to make errors, which could be blamed on his inexperience. Chelsea will hope to get the best out of him and rise up the table in the second half of the season.

Defenders: Reece James, Thiago Silva, Wesley Fofana, Kalidou Koulibaly and Ben Chilwell

Full-backs James and Chilwell are both currently injured, but the England internationals are nearing a return and Chelsea will hope they will be available in February. They will add immense quality both going forward and in defence.

The three centre-backs are a mix of experience and talent. Wesley Fofana arrived for another huge fee, but has missed most of the season through injury.

As for Koulibaly and Silva, they may suit five at the back more due to the speed of the Premier League. Silva has adapted better and has been a hugely important part of the Chelsea side.

As for Koulibaly, he continues to struggle and was dropped for the last game against Crystal Palace.

Midfielders: N’Golo Kante and Moises Caicedo

The midfield has been an area of concern for Chelsea and having missed out on World Cup winner Enzo Fernandez, they seem to have turned their attention to Brighton’s Moises Caicedo.

The youngster has impressed this season and in the summer Brighton joked that £40 million would not even get his laces. Potter knows his quality and will be in the best position to assess whether Chelsea are getting value for their money are they to splash out on him.

A hefty price tag may not put Chelsea off, as they have shown themselves willing to pay huge fees already in this window.

As for Kante, he is another hoping to make a February return, and if he can regain his Premier League and World Cup-winning form then Chelsea’s midfield would be solidified.

Forwards: Raheem Sterling, Joao Felix and Mykhailo Mudryk

This forward line contains two of Chelsea’s January signings. Felix was arguably the best player on the pitch before he was sent off against Fulham, and when he returns in two games’ time he could replace an out-of-form Kai Havertz.

Reports suggest that in persuading Mudryk to join they promised him a starting role, and with the amount of money they have paid, he could well be given a starting role on Saturday against Liverpool.

Raheem Sterling suffered an injury against his former side Manchester City and will be welcomed back, when he is available, to add the attacking flair that has made him one of Gareth Southgate’s most important players.
