Former Richmond director of rugby Brett Taylor/s return to the Athletic Ground as Richmond Women's head coach is a major boost, says commercial director Jimmy Wallace.

Taylor, appointed last week, led the the club's men back into the national leagues from London Division One in 2008 before becoming director of rugby at London Scottish and then Barnes.

Wallace agreed a new three-year sponsorship deal with Crabbie’s this week that will see the drinks firm sponsor home Championship clashes with Rotherham and London Irish, while the company's name will feature on the front of the women's first team team shirts.

“We are thrilled to have Crabbie’s on board as a Premier Partner across both the men’s and women’s sections for the next three years," he said.

"We look for partners who share the same values as our club and have been impressed with Crabbie’s commitment to rugby at all levels.

"Coming on the back of appointing Brett Taylor last week as head coach of Richmond Women’s rugby, this is another great boost for the women’s section, and indeed the club as a whole, ahead of the new season.”

Taylor, an RFU level four coach and former Northampton Saints professional, takes over a women's team crowned Premiership and National Cup champions last season.

"I am honoured to be offered the role of head coach of Richmond Women and truly excited by the challenge ahead,"  he added.

"I have been really impressed with the women’s attitude at training during pre-season and am delighted to be a part of this committed and passionate team.

"Richmond is a great club, with a long and successfully history, and I look forward to working with everyone here and ensuring Richmond’s place at the forefront of rugby development in the women's game."

Richmond Women and former England international Amy Turner is heading up pre-season training at Rosslyn Park Slingbacks.
