I would like to say a really big thank you to everyone in Richmond who got together for a cup of coffee on Friday, September 26, and helped to raise money as part of Macmillan Cancer Support’s flagship fundraising event – World’s Biggest Coffee Morning.

Nearly 180 coffee mornings took place across the borough and we anticipate that approximately £40,000 will have been raised.

Every penny will help us reach our target of £8.5m across the country, which will have an enormous impact on the lives of people affected by cancer.

It was a great day and everyone really enjoyed themselves.

It’s amazing to think that simply enjoying a cup of coffee with friends, neighbours, families or colleagues can make a difference to people affected by cancer, but it really does.

Donations given in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support will help fund vital information and counselling centres, specialist Macmillan medical staff, buildings for cancer treatment and care, as well as grants and benefits for patients in financial difficulties.

These services are vital to the many people in Richmond diagnosed with cancer each year.

For those who missed out on the day, you can still help Macmillan support people living with cancer by donating online at www.macmillan.org.uk/coffee, by calling 0845 602 1246 or by posting cheques to:
