A 66-year-old man has been charged with the attempted murder of four women following yesterday's Hampton stabbings.
Ethem Aydin Orhon, of Deacons Walk, Hampton, will appear in custody at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court today (May 21), charged with four counts of attempted murder and one count of possessing an offensive weapon.
Four women, aged 67, 62, 71 and 53, were stabbed in the Sainsbury's car park in Tangley Park Road at about 10.30am yesterday (Friday, May 20).
The women are still in hospital but the condition of all four is now stable, according to police.
Orhon was arrested yesterday and charged in the early hours of this morning.
The 53-year-old woman, named locally as Susannah Brand, was taken to hospital by air ambulance.
At the time her injuries were thought to be life-threatening.
After the attack she made her way to Hampton police station.
