Twickenham business SogoSolar has been congratulated by MP Vince Cable for promoting innovation in renewable energy.

The company fitted one of the first integrated solar panel and velux window systems in London to a house being renovated in Twickenham.

The affordable method means solar panels are part of the roof structure rather than being mounted on top of the roof, placing less stress on the roof.

The Business Secretary said: "The government has made significant investments into renewable energy and my party is committed to delivering a low carbon economy.

"UK businesses of all sizes have a role to play and it is fantastic to see SogoSolar, a local solar panel company, deliver affordable and sustainable solutions."

Ben Saunders, of SogoSolar, said: "I am so pleased Vince Cable has made time in his busy schedule to see our work.

"I am always on the lookout for new products to help clients wanting to improve their properties and reduce energy bills.

"Solar panels and velux windows usually compete for limited roof space and this approach means homeowners can have the best of both."
